As temperatures hovered around 90 degrees, employees at the South Central VA Health Care Network (VISN 16), in Ridgeland, Mississippi, hit the pavement to celebrate the eighth annual VA2K Walk & Roll, May 16 2018.

Each year the VA conducts the VA2K nationwide. The VA2K includes a short two kilometer walk (approximately 1.2 miles) and is designed to promote healthy lifestyles, but the primary order of business is helping homeless Veterans.

This year the VISN 16 Ridgeland office was able to donate more than $1,700 to the homeless Veterans program, including cash and in-kind donations. The property management company who maintains the VA properties gave nearly $1,000 in items-of-need for homeless Veterans.

More than 20 VA employees and a small Walk & Roll team from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), who works next door to VISN 16, participated.
